President’s Note
Welcome to the Junior League of Indian River!
In our 35th year, Junior League of Indian River is proud to continue advancing women’s leadership for meaningful community impact through volunteer action, collaboration, and training. I have had the privilege and honor of serving my first of two years as Junior League of Indian River (JLIR) President.
At the start of the 2025–2026 League year, we set three key goals: increase brand awareness, establish a community focus area, and grow membership. I am proud to share that through the dedication of our members and community partners, we successfully achieved each of these objectives.
Our Marketing and Communications Committee committed to increasing brand awareness by building relationships with local nonprofits, businesses, sponsors, and philanthropic community members. These partnerships supported event sponsorships, meeting space opportunities, and collaborative outreach efforts that expanded the organization’s visibility and community presence.
The Community Impact Committee used community needs research and collaboration with local nonprofit partners to identify the most pressing needs in Indian River County. Guided by these findings and a membership vote, the Committee established a focus area centered on addressing early learning and literacy gaps.
The Membership Development Committee grew our impact significantly with an 18% increase in overall membership, a 55% increase in active members compared to the previous year, the return of two former active members, and the transition of 10 new members to active status through two Super Saturday events. New members also helped to establish the Bloom Bag Initiative, assembling and donating approximately 300 care packages containing essential period supplies to local students as part of the League’s commitment to improving the lives of women and girls in the community.
As we look ahead to the 2026–2027 League year, we are excited to build upon the momentum of this past year by deepening our community impact, strengthening member engagement, and continuing to grow our visibility throughout Indian River County. We will focus our efforts on addressing early learning and literacy gaps, expanding opportunities for women to develop as leaders, and creating meaningful volunteer experiences that benefit our community.
We invite women who are passionate about service, leadership, and community impact to learn more about Junior League of Indian River and join us in our mission. Together, we can continue to develop the potential of women and improve our community for generations to come.
Here’s to the next 35 years!
With gratitude,
Chiaka Nwosu
President, 2025-2027
