Bloom Bags
What Are Bloom Bags?
As part of its commitment to improving the lives of women and girls in our community, Junior League of Indian River is proud to lead the Bloom Bag initiative as our Community Impact Project (CIP), providing care packages filled with essential period supplies to students in local schools.
Junior League members come together to assemble Bloom Bags using supplies generously donated through our community shopping list. During the 2025–2026 school year, Junior League members assembled and donated about 300 Bloom Bags to two schools in the School District of Indian River County, helping students access essential period products.
Across our community, teachers and school administrators are often purchasing period products out of their own pockets to ensure students do not go without. Period poverty remains a hidden but critical issue that directly affects attendance, confidence, and academic success. No student should miss class, feel embarrassed, or struggle in silence due to a lack of basic hygiene products.
Bloom Bags are designed to address this need with dignity. Each bag provides discreet, consistent access to period supplies so students can focus on learning—not on what they’re missing.
By removing barriers to access, Bloom Bags help students stay engaged in school, build confidence, and thrive during a pivotal stage of development. When we provide these essential products, we are not just meeting an immediate need—we are investing in long-term educational and personal success.
